  1. There are so many possible answers to this. The best thing you could do is go over to apartmenttherapy.com. Look for the “Small Cool” contest (or just google “Small Cool” – it’s the first result) and look through the entries. It’s packed with design inspiration and ideas for small spaces.

  2. Studio apartments are very nice for the open living space, especially if you have clausterphobia…but does not provide a lot for privacy with guests. Two suggestions…buy tall furniture. Wardrobes, bookshelves, ect., japanese blinds. These can be put around the bed as walls to provide bedroom privacy. With wardrobes and similar furniture, this will aleviate the full use of the huge closet for clothes. If the closet is big enough, it can now be converted into a small library or den, a private room. Depending how you set up your bedroom furniture, you can also get modular furniture/office furniture…interconnecting walls with a door to surround your furniture and block off direct access to the bedroom area. The top is still open, but is now distinctly divided. This website gives a good idea for wall dividers.

  3. if you have a futon and guests are coming over just throw a solid flat sheet on top and safety pin it to the back of the futon. that way, the youknowwhats “where the sun don’t shine” will not touch the futon
