Moving into my first apartment. Anyone have any good discount furniture websites?
My boyfriend and I are moving into our first apartment together. Space is limited so I am not looking for a full on living room set. We basically just need a sofabed or futon. Anybody know any good websites for cheap but durable furniture? On a tight budget and would love any advice. Thanks!

overstock.com. They have good prices, but mostly, everything you order will ship for 2.95. So you can buy your whole appartment furnishing in one sitting, and only pay 3 bucks to ship it. Otherwise if you know what you’re looking for, go to pricegrabber.com and compare. Be sure to put in your zip to get bottom line prices.
There’s a store called Hotel Liquidations, when fancy hotels remodel their rooms, lobby’s, etc, they sell the used stuff at these stores. I’m not sure what the name may be in your area, but that’s what their called in the Georgia area. Check your yellow pages, you would be surprised at the deals you can get!
I don’t know where you are located, but l suggest checking out thrift stores like goodwill, salvation army, bibles for mission, value village. You can find some great bargoons on fairly clean sofas, and you can save money by cleaning with vinagar and water, or renting a steam cleaner, or by using a slip cover and also by washing what parts you can. Instead of buying a slipcover you can purchase sheet sets on sales and then fit them snuggly around the sofa and chair with safety pins.
You can buy all kinds of solid wood furniture that can be taken apart for shelving, or for side tables. An example would be a vanity l purchased for twenty-five dollars and took apart. It gave me a hall mirror, a surface for a desk, and two side tables for my bed.
You can finish the furniture with a crackle finish. It is easy. Either paint the furniture a dark colour, or if it is wood leave it. Then coat either type of surface with the crackle {which is white glue and water} let dry thoroughly {at least over night}, then apply white or cream paint {as long as it contrasts with what you are covering} latex flat …let dry thoroughly, then coat with two coats of urathane letting each coat dry in between {it has a slightly yellow effect}.
Buy a brand new mattress and boxspring, since if you buy this used you are also buying dust mites and persperation…if you perchase any sheets or coverlets clean in scalding water with a drop of bleach, that will clean away everything.
