I have a new apartment, a house that was turned into two apartments. The staircase in my apartment is blocked due to the upstairs apartment. Does anyone have any ideas about how to decorate the staircase to make it a focal point?

   I had a similiar situation once in an old apartment I lived in. Here’s what I did: I removed the old carpeting and covered all of the surfaces with chalkboard paint. Then, I lined all of the stair risers with small votive candles. I put a small box of chalk at the bottom of the stairs, and whenever any of my friends or family came over, I encouraged them to draw, create poetry, or whatever! It was a huge hit. Once a month or so, I took an old sponge and wiped the whole thing clean. Remember to ask your landlords permission!

   To make the staircase a focal point, you should have sufficient spot lights, highlighting it.Choose a good railing to it,a railing plays a vital role in a staircase’s look.If there’s a wall on its side, you can do some really good decor on that too..Always try using the space under the staircase to make a mini library or a bar unit or a piano space or even some good woodwork where you can dump some old stuff in.If you don’t want to spend on it presently,you may want to decorate it with some valencies.
