Buy small furniture and don’t get too much. The less stuff you have, the bigger your apartment will feel. Estate sales, consignment stores, and retail outlets are great places to find cheap furniture.
Places like Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens and Things usually have inexpensive pre-framed photos, posters, lithographs, etc. They’re a great way to fill up empty walls, either with a big piece or a cool thematic arrangement of smaller pieces.
Craft stores like Ben Franklin and Michael’s also have a large frame section. Get some of the “floating” style frames — you can put flat things from post cards to dried flowers between two thin sheets of glass — and use them to display souvenirs like good restaurant menus, tickets from a concert, or photos of friends, etc.
well u need a oganized place to start and get some littel accseriess.u can take a nice tabel colth and make curtains out of it and if your bed is small put lots of pillows on it or if u have a big bed put only 3 pillows.put a fuzzy rug on the floor. or watch HGTV to get some ideas.
I did all kinds of stuff with paint, choose two colors (after choosing always take it one shde lighter, on the wall it will always be darker then the paint chip), I have a sky blue and honeydew melon green, choose an axcent metal (silver in my case) then when you paont do white cealing, and wide horizontal stripes (devide your wall into three equal bands) using the color you like the most as the top and bottom, paint over doreframed and doors so they will blend in and make everything look bigger. then add touches of metalic ( I had these ugly suport beams on my walls… now they look like silver metal and they are so cool).
I have a small apartment and it felt so empty, so I went to Wal-Mart and Bed Bath and Beyond and bought some home decor. First, I bought a beautiful cherrywood grandfather clock from Wal-Mart for 90 bucks. I put that in the dining room. Then I got some dark red paint and painted 2 walls of my “living room”. Then I bought a large, black entertainment stand from Wal-Mart for about 120 bucks. I bought some beautiful gold curtains and a gold curtain rod that has leaves on it. I hung a small, black oval mirror over my entertainment stand. Then I bought a large black square mirror and hung it over my couch. I then went to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased 3 sconces (candle holders that hang on the wall). I put 2 small ones on each side of the mirror that’s above my couch and I put 1 large one in my dining room. It made all the difference in the world. Now I absolutely love my apartment. It made it feel more like a home.
Now all I need is a smaller couch because the one I have takes up the entire wall of my living room, so it makes my living room feel tiny. Make sure you have small furniture and use light colored paints to make it feel bigger. I chose a dark red because I have dark wood as a coffee table and entertainment stand. It looks great with the black. It’s always good to get a paint that goes well with whatever color wood/metal you have.
St. Vinces, or the Salvation Army has some really good things with alot of life left to them! You might like antiques. If that’s not your bag, there’s full motion furniture, one or two recliners that would be great to fall into after a long day! Imported junk is another, such as that sold at Pier One & IKEA. that way you can just toss it later.
Try watching Design on a Dime on HGTV, that show has alot of really cool ideas. Maybe frame some black and white family pictures and hang them on the wall. That is always very cute. Get some small flowers and set them as a center piece on the coffee table, don’t do anything too big because it will feel busy

Traditionally it was used to cover walls but has since given way to wallpaper, which is more practical and easy to use while carrying out the same function.
Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing floor and wall covering fabrics to decorate your home:
1. Use fabrics to provide soundproofing in noisy rooms.
2. Curtains or blinds allow us to play with light.
3. Choose flooring like according to a room’s use.
4. Use tough floorings like marble, stone, or tiles where lots of people move about, especially if they have hard heels or dirty soles.
5. Use warm flooring like carpets or wood where you will walk barefoot.
6. Before choosing flooring, try and determine how it will look in the lighting of a room.
7. Take good care of your flooring to ensure it will last a long time.
8. Avoid paint in areas with heavy circulation. Tiles and marble are both washable and longer lasting.
9. When deciding on the flooring and the wall coverings remember just how much space they occupy and therefore how important they are.
10. Well-matched wall coverings and floorings can be mutually enhancing so it is best to select them at the same time.
