Honestly, I wish The President and First Lady would host more social functions at the White House, Movie nights and wiffle ball games for kids in and around the District of Columbia, some basketball games, summer stock theater and blues and jazz concerts.
America loves sports and entertainment, among other things, and it would be nice, in my opinion, for the President to acknowledge the arts and entertainment more frequently at the White House. I would love that and ordinary Americans would love it too.
Times are tough right now due almost exclusively to the GOP and the Blue Dog Democrats who are so afraid to court any conservative criticism on any matter. It’s high time to reject GOP politics, which we are beginning to do, and celebrate the things that make this country great like the arts and entertainment.
Have a great weekend, and just remember this, the GOP doesn’t matter. They are irrelevant as a political party and their outrage, besides being purely politically manufactured outrage thrown like red meat to their ever shrinking base, is meaningless and counterproductive and, frankly, anti-American.

There is a difference between Obama’s date to Broadway and Sanfords tryst with his mistress.
First diffference works against Sanford. Obama went with his wife & Sanford with his mistress.
But the 2nd difference is what makes people outraged at Obama’s date with Micheal. Obama didn’t go to NY on official business, then take his wife out in the evening while off duty. He made a special trip just for the date.
Sanford was going to Argentina on official business & hooked up with Maria on his time off. In fact, it looks like the affair started that evening. So there is a good chance the purpose of the trip was in no way to have the affair.
But I am not defending Sanford. He took off, lying to his staff as to where he was, without turning over authority to his 2nd in command. This is what makes him toast.
I am outraged by both of your examples. I am outraged at all the hugh cars government officials have been given and the gas our tax dollars must pay for. I am outraged about Pelosi’s tax payer private jet. I am outraged that ‘Boxer’ demanded she be call ‘Senator’ instead of Mam. I am outraged at being lied to. I am outraged about broken promises. I am outraged that Obama demonized Bush for policies he has now found he must embrace. I am outraged that Obama has made the U.S. look like a wimp in need of forgiveness. I am outraged that EVERYTHING under the sun of going to be taxed. I am outraged about ACORN, etc being supported by tax payer money. I am outraged about the repayment by tax payers for political favors.
Let Obama pay for his own dates and let Sanford pay for his trips to Argentina. Obama is not repaying anything, nor is Pelosi, Dodd, Sharpton or the rest of the crooks.
How about a Bill to stop all these perks for a Congress whose rating is dipping to single digits.

He is paying the money back and he will continue to pay back for his indiscretions through his political career and his family. As for resigning, I figure that if Bill Clinton did not resign after having multiple affairs while being the Arkansas governor and then the President of the United States, Sanford should finish his term in office and not run again. Hell, why should only Republicans resign from office when any scandal arises, nevermind a sex scandal? How many Democrats have been brought up on scandal charges and still maintain their political career? Names include Ted Kennedy, Charles Rangel, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Daniel Inouye, John Murtha, Roland Burris, and Tim Mahoney. Meanwhile, it takes a near herculean effort to force the democrats to resign their office. Ask John Edwards and William Jefferson about how much time it took for them to finally step down after their activities were exposed.
Obama has been traveling all over the place on the taxpayer’s dime and he doesn’t give a rat’s (insert rear bodypart) about it. Hell, Air Force One’s flyover in NYC had to have been authorized by his staff with his knowledge since it is HIS plane, and yet he stumbled and bumbled about wtih his response. Obama preaches about conserving money and controlling spending, yet he has spent more and expanded the executive branch (showing no control in spending) further than any other president in recent history. If someone held Obama accountable for his overuse of travel funds, watch how fast he suddenly decides to stay home more often. Sanford is paying back for one of his trips with the possibility of paying back for the rest of them in the near future. Obama will never pay a single dime back for any of his unnecessary trips (did he really need to travel across the country to sign the stimulus bill, the omnibus bill, and promote his health care reform? He thinks he is still on the campaign trail for God’s sake).
I’m not outraged but it does seem the man is abusing the use of his office with all his “date nights.” While the country is suffering he seems to be using the perks of his office more than I’ve ever seen another president use them.
We must all share the pain, seems to mean, you not me in his case.

Not really. The Gov and his wife were separated, and the taxpayer money you refer to was part of an official trip during round one of his tryst. This last round, he paid for himself. Furthermore, he didn’t come back redefining words, and he didn’t lie to a Grand Jury and the American people.

Anyone who cheats on their spouse has no place in public office in my opinion. If you cannot remain faithful to someone you have pledged your life to, how can you be faithful to a couple hundred people who voted for you that you have never even met?

Sanford isn’t standing in front of the American citizens telling us we need to cut back and then in the next breathe taking off for a night out on the town. I think he deserves to take his wife out but don’t preach to me about cutting back and then throwing it in my face because he doesn’t feel the need to cut back.
I don’t think Sanford was right. And I don’t think our government is right in piling up so much debt. And they think we are too stupid to understand that they still aren’t reading the bills. The democrats added 300 pages to the new Energy Tax bill at 3AM Friday morning and Pelosi still pushed for it to pass by the end of Friday.
