I would rather be a member of a party that at least tries to establish morals to aim for versus a party that has no morals what so ever. And I am not ashamed to be a Conservative/Republican just because a few people have failed to meet the morals we try to hold them to. If we dropped any group we ever belonged to because a few people in it messed up then we would have no groups left to belong to. The failures of a few people does not mean the group as a whole shares the same failures. And those that say the Republican party has no morals due to the action of a few are living with their heads up their backsides.
What really gets me is how Democrats come down on the Republican party as a whole when things like this happen when the failure is due to a single person and not that of the party. And the only reason they can do this is because they have no set values at all. Over the years a few Democrats have tried to set some basic standards of conduct but each time the leaders of the party shut them down. I consider myself in the center as there are some things in the Democratic party that I agree with but there are also several things in the Republican side that I support too. It’s this lack of standards on the left that makes me consider myself a Republican and not a Democrat.
As far as whether his political career dies or not from this that is up to the voters of his state. I do not live in SC so what I think has no meaning as it is up to his constitutes to decide if he has any redeeming features strong enough to make up for the wrong he has done his wife.
I’m laughing at the conservative saying he’ll own it, unlike democrats, then two of the next three responses blaming Obama. Good job guys.
I’m glad because I don’t particularly like Sanford as a politician. I honestly don’t really care about the affair itself. I understand that it looks bad, but I don’t really see personal affairs as having an effect on someone’s political ability. Bill Clinton is an obvious example – most people would agree that cheating on Hillary was bad, but anyone with half a brain would acknowledge at the very least that Bill was a talented politician, whether you like him or not. As a liberal, I liked Bill because he seemed like someone that could get something done.
The only time I really do care about a politician’s personal life is when it goes directly AGAINST their message. Palin preaching the benefits of asbstinence-only education comes to mind, as well as Larry Craig’s homophobia or even Al Gore’s power-sucking home (although he has at least fixed that a lot, it looks bad that he had to get called out on it first).
In short, I’m not glad because of some moral obligation, but I am because I don’t particularly like Sanford anyways.
Democrats can’t say a word… What is that about trying to remove a splinter from somebody’s eye with a log in your own eye???

To be clear, I personally find Obama to be an arrogant, shameless, and empty-suited politician who is corrupt, lying, and willing to throw anyone aside should they get in the way of his quest. He’s used the black community where it suited him, panders to any group for a vote, and claims credit for the work of others. Further, he’s never done anything for himself and is quick to blame others when criticized. I am especially troubled by his cult following and his paid a legion of foul mouthed morons who propagandize for him and respond to every criticism with derogatory, racist, and sexist rants. Finally, Obama’s cries of racism increasingly fall on deaf ears because he’s been the one using it to corner every advantage.
Frankly, thanks to his stand on the porkulus funding (which I agree with), his popularity in his home state is approaching zero. He’s never been liked by the dopeycrats and has never had a rapport with state Republicans. I never saw him have much of chance running for president.
Yes, I’m thrilled he was caught! The GOP was talking about him being a candidate for President for 2010. This boob would have told no one and then 2 weeks before the election, the left wing liberal bias media would have announced it then.

Fortunately, I’m not because I’m more informed than that.
I don’t presume to know what goes on in any household. He was targeted for opposing Obama.
Sooo …
Cheats on his wife = burn him at the stake
Invade a sovereign nation that poses no threat = Re-elect him
… is that how it works?
Yes, I have no problem holding our own accountable, unlike democrats.
Yeah, I never would’ve thought to go down to Argentina to pick up hunnies….thanks to him I now have a new vacation spot.
yes
