Adultery is still illegal in South Carolina. However since none of the Governor’s extra-marital affairs took place within the boundaries of the state he can’t be charged.
Actually, it turns out that adultery is illegal in the state of South Carolina, due to a law made back in the late 1800’s (1894 if I remember correctly).
The law says that any South Carolinian who commits adultery, no matter where he or she did it, is subject to a large fine and one year of jail.
So he COULD face charges. However, that law has not been enforced since 1904, so I doubt he will face charges.
If it is then sodomy laws are probably still on the books. I guess the courts will be full of all kinds of folks huh?
very funny. x]
