Just clearing out the clutter. Ensign and Sanford were never going to make a serious run at things. The Republicans main horses, Romney and Huckabee are at the moment unscathed.
Huckabee is not to be underestimated, he has made such a thoroughly sophisticated end run around campaign finance laws that he has himself well positioned. If he isn’t the number one guy on the ticket, I sure expect him to be number two.
Don’t count out Palin, there is no telling what she is up to. The left may detest her, but she has a huge base of supporters who are not likely to give up on her. If unemployment climbs to 15% by 2012, which is not an unrealistic possibility, the Democrats will be in deep kimchee.
